Pickens County Museum

Pickens County Museum is located in downtown Pickens, South Carolina and represents the cultural and historical hub for Pickens County. The Museum building is a 1903 historical feature of Pickens County that was renovated in 2006. As part of the renovation and addition, Earth Design was commissioned to design the landscape to represent the cultural history, geology, and the flora and fauna of Pickens County. The design was based upon plant communities and geological features found in Pickens County: grantic outcrops, Piedmont prairies, stream and river corridors, and cultural features, such as the millstone fountain. The design also features bog and wetland communities with educational kiosk and signage to educate visitors regarding the unique features of Pickens County. The landscape has been become an icon for the Museum and the county.
